Paint the Town

As part of a nationwide initiative, NeighborWorks® Anchorage participated in NeighborWorks® Week from June 3 – June 11.  All across the United States, this week was set aside for community housing organizations to partner with community groups, sponsors, and volunteers to perform neighborhood enhancement projects.  NeighborWorks® Anchorage was one of 250 community agencies participating in this great event.

For the past eight years NeighborWorks® Anchorage has managed over 150 volunteer projects, providing exterior painting, roofing and fencing assistance for people residing in affordable housing. To continue our tradition of building a better community, we once again spearheaded the Paint the Town program for the first week in June. Paint the Town is designed to be a community based program to paint homes for single parents, seniors, people with disabilities, and other homeowners with a limited capacity. Last year we were able to assist twenty families with this project. In 2011 we painted eighteen homes; we coordinated supplies, volunteers and helped with the expertise needed to paint homes this summer.
